The Georgia Department of Transportation announces plans to shift traffic on SR 127 beginning Wednesday, March 18. Traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed northbound lanes. The closures are subject to change based on weather conditions.
The shift will begin north of Arena Road and continue south of Houston Lake Country Club. This traffic shift is necessary in order to complete construction of new travel lanes.
The scheduled completion date for this project is December 31, 2009. Motorists should expect shoulder and lane closures on a continuing basis and are advised to use extra caution in construction work zones.
Speed limits have been reduced and will be strictly enforced. Message boards, signs, barricades, barrels and cones will be utilized to alert and channel motorists through the area.
